What is dual enrollment? What are the benefits?
Dual Enrollment means that you are enrolled both at Lake Nona High School and a local college at the same time. We offer programs at Orange Technical College, Valencia College, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Florida. Each has different things to offer and each has different admissions requirements. Click through our pages to learn more.
Successful completion of your dual enrollment courses will earn you either college credit or career certifications that you can use to enter a particular career field at a more advanced level. If you'd like to get a jump start on your college credits, then Valencia, UCF, or UF dual enrollment may be for you. If you'd like to be able to start a career right after high school, you may be interested in offerings at Orange Technical College.

What does dual enrollment count for? What classes should I take?
If you're enrolled at Valencia or a state university, you can pretty much take any class that interests you, as long as you meet the prerequisites. Meeting with an advisor at your college can be a helpful tool in determining which classes are right for you.
If your goal is to substitute college courses for your high school graduation requirements, you will need to look at the Dual Enrollment Equivalency list to make sure what you're taking matches with what you need.
If you are concerned whether your class will count for Bright Futures, consult the Bright Futures Course Table. You can either search by course number (college course numbers are the three letters followed by four numbers with no space, for example AMH2010) or consult the lists on the right hand side of the page.
If you are attending vocational dual enrollment, your classes will be determined for you by the program you are participating in.
